Garmin announces signature Garmin Marathon Series.
Garmin has introduced the Garmin Marathon Series, a new road-running initiative that the company will fully own and manage. Unlike traditional sponsorships, this series reflects Garmin’s direct investment in the running community, which has long been known for its involvement in fitness technology.
The series is set to begin in autumn 2025 with events in Toledo, Ohio, and Tucson, Arizona. Designed for a wide range of participants, from experienced runners to first-time entrants, the series aims to highlight the personal journeys behind every mile. Garmin stated that the event will welcome all participants, including those training for major marathons or seeking a new challenge.
Susan Lyman, Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing at Garmin, explained that the series represents a deeper connection between the brand and the running community. She noted that Garmin’s role in training support over the years naturally extends to the race day experience.
Cities for the initial events were selected based on their race calendars, community involvement in running, local features surrounding the courses and expected weather conditions. Garmin indicated that more locations are being considered for 2026.
The confirmed 2025 events will be held on 21 September in Toledo and 15 November in Tucson. Each event will include four race distances: a full marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K. The full and half marathons will be USATF-certified, with the full marathon also serving as a Boston Marathon qualifier.
Before race day, each location will host a two-day expo featuring Garmin’s latest products and technology. The expo will also include limited-edition gear, professional athlete meet-and-greets and appearances from selected sponsors. Following the races, a finish line festival will offer food, live music and other community activities.
Registration is open for all race distances in both cities. More information can be found at garmin.com/marathons.
