Garmin introduces Varia Vue, its first cycling headlight with a built-in 4K camera
Garmin has announced the launch of the Varia Vue headlight camera, a new product aimed at improving safety and visibility for road cyclists. The device combines a 600-lumen smart headlight with a front-facing 4K camera, designed to record video during rides and automatically save footage if an incident is detected. A memory card is required for video storage and is omitted.
According to Garmin, the Varia Vue integrates with the Varia RCT715 radar taillight camera, available separately, to enable front and rear video capture. Susan Lyman, Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing, stated that the device provides cyclists with enhanced visibility and the ability to document rides in high resolution, further supporting Garmin’s focus on rider safety.

The built-in camera features electronic image stabilisation and records clear video regardless of route conditions. If an incident occurs, the camera automatically preserves footage from before, during and after the event. When connected to Wi-Fi, saved clips can be uploaded to Garmin Vault with an active subscription. Cyclists can review and edit footage using the Varia app at the end of their ride.
The smart headlight offers five lighting modes, including up to 600 lumens of output. Light intensity adjusts to suit riding conditions when paired with a compatible Edge cycling computer. The headlight also features a cutoff beam to limit glare for oncoming traffic.

Additional features include a battery life of up to 7 hours when both the light and camera are active in day flash mode and up to 9 hours when the light is off. The unit can also operate while charging. Settings for both camera and light can be adjusted remotely via a compatible Edge device or the Varia app. A concealed microphone captures audio, and the unit is designed to integrate easily with existing Edge out-front mounts.
