Garmin Edge 1050 & 1040, 840, 540 get new features and fixes

Public Beta 13.07 Pre-Rollout for Edge 1050 Released

Garmin has announced the pre-rollout of Public Beta 13.07 for the Edge 1050 with Edge 1040 , 840 and 540 receiving a similar update. This update is available to those enrolled in the beta programme with a configured Wi-Fi network. According to Garmin, installation requires accessing the main menu, selecting System, navigating to About, and then checking for updates. After downloading, the software update may need to be manually selected for installation.

The update introduces a new feature allowing courses to be saved in the reverse direction. It also addresses several issues, including a fix for dynamic glance not updating unless the device is restarted, inconsistencies in the battery status icon during low battery warnings, and errors in sensor naming. Additionally, GroupRide glance now correctly displays the number of riders, and improvements have been made to power and heart rate zones to align with Garmin Connect.

Other adjustments include enhancements to gear preset selection, ensuring valid configurations are applied when a shifting system reports a non-standard gear count. The update also resolves issues with manual Wi-Fi synchronisation errors, sensor connection tones, and third-party power meter pairing via Bluetooth. Several interface fixes have been implemented, such as preventing infinite scrolling in the language selection menu and improving the visibility of long segment names.

Garmin has also introduced an updated layout for custom alerts and refined various settings, including Course Creator, ClimbPro, and power-off page options. Additional stability improvements and minor fixes have been included to enhance overall device performance.
