Garmin G3000 PRIME integrated flight deck to Pilatus PC-12 PRO

Garmin has announced that its G3000 PRIME integrated flight deck has been selected for the new Pilatus PC-12 PRO aircraft. This marks the first certified aircraft to feature the system. Designed with a modern user interface and advanced connectivity, G3000 PRIME incorporates technologies to enhance safety and efficiency while reducing pilot workload. Garmin Vice President of Aviation Sales, Marketing, Programs & Support, Carl Wolf, stated that the system will modernize the cockpit experience for PC-12 PRO operators. Pilatus Aircraft CEO Markus Bucher noted that the collaboration with Garmin has resulted in an advanced aircraft and flight deck.

The system includes 14-inch touchscreen primary display units with edge-to-edge, sunlight-readable glass, offering improved performance with increased memory and faster system connectivity. Multi-core processors have more than double the processing power, and higher display refresh rates contribute to smoother animations. Complementary 7-inch secondary display units provide data entry and system control, featuring an expanded screen area. A new multi-touch interface enables up to 10 simultaneous touchscreen inputs, allowing pilot and copilot interaction on the same display. Pilots can also use a cursor control device for commonly used functions.

G3000 PRIME features a modern Garmin user interface with enhanced fonts and iconography for clarity. Primary Flight Windows and Multi-Function Windows support full-screen and split-screen options, while quick access bars provide one-touch access to key applications. A radial menu allows interaction with maps and flight planning tools. The Window Manager feature enables the configuration of app display and window sizing across the flight deck, offering preset options for different flight phases.

The system incorporates advanced flight management tools, including the Modified Flight Plan, which allows pilots to preview flight plan changes side by side. During initialisation, an Emergency Return function can be set up to streamline responses to in-flight emergencies. Smart checklists are linked to crew alerting system messages, providing touch access to relevant procedures and automatic indication sensing.

G3000 PRIME includes safety technologies such as Autonomí, Garmin Autoland, Electronic Stability Protection, Emergency Descent Mode, and Garmin Autothrottle. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, LTE, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and Connext Satellite Services. Garmin’s PlaneSync management system enables automatic database updates and flight data logging, while Controller Pilot Data Link Communication supports faster departure clearance and route messaging.

The G3000 PRIME system in the PC-12 PRO has received initial type certification, with deliveries expected to begin in Q3 2025.
