Orbit Health, a health technology company, has developed an AI-driven solution to enhance Parkinson’s disease management. The CE-marked Neptune Care app enables users to track their symptoms and treatment responses in real-time, facilitating adjustments to their care plans as needed. This solution relies on Garmin smartwatches to deliver accurate, round-the-clock data collection.

Neptune Care is designed as a self-care and learning tool for patients, complementing its professional counterpart, Neptune, used by healthcare providers. Using the smartwatch’s accelerometer and gyroscope sensors, the app automatically tracks motor states, including ON, OFF, and dyskinesia. Users can also log medications, meals, exercise, sleep, and overall well-being. This data is processed through Garmin’s Health Connected Ecosystem and displayed in user-friendly visualisations within the app.

The app provides personalised insights into symptom patterns and treatment responses, helping users understand how various activities and medications influence their condition. Reports and consultations are regularly provided to assist patients in managing their health between doctor visits. By integrating continuous monitoring, the app supports physicians in gaining a more comprehensive view of disease progression and enables more precise adjustments to treatment plans.

Orbit Health plans to further enhance the Neptune platform by incorporating additional Garmin metrics, such as beat-to-beat interval, heart rate, Pulse Ox, respiration rate, and stress levels.

With the worldwide distribution channel from Garmin and their high-quality smartwatches, the collaboration expands Neptune access and enhances comfort and usability. It’s time to change the way we manage Parkinson’s because now we can.”

This collaboration between Orbit Health and Garmin Health aims to transform Parkinson’s management, providing continuous insights to empower patients and their healthcare teams.
